Chelsea beats Everton 1-0 to reach English League Cup final (AP)

Joe Cole scored in the 69th minute, and defending champion Chelsea beat Everton 1-0 Wednesday night to advance to the League Cup final. Chelsea, trying for its third League Cup in four years, won the home-and-home series on 3-1 aggregate and will play Tottenham in the final at Wembley on Feb. 24. “This competition isn’t a major competition,” Chelsea manager Avram Grant said.
